Holiday Season Safety At Home

Holidays are best spent at home rather than in a doctors office.

• Watch Out For Your Kids 
  • Kids feel excited when they visit a new place, meet new people, or have new experiences. Many places aren't as safe for children as your own home.
  • If you're traveling or staying as a guest, keep an eye out for potentially hazardous foods, beverages, home objects, toys, equipment, choking hazards, and so on.
  • After a party, clean up as soon as possible. Children or pets may be able to access dangerous drinks, food, or decorations before you do.
  • Poisonous to humans and animals, poinsettias should be kept away from children and pets.
• Be Alert For Fire Hazards
  • The majority of residential fires occur in the winter, and it's easier to be negligent when you're surrounded by family & friends and distracted.
  • Never leave a fire or a heat source unattended. Indoors, never utilize charcoal or gasoline-powered devices.
• Step Aside For Professionals/Experts
  • Leave the fireworks or special effects to the professionals and the grilling to the veteran BBQers in the group.
• If Your Decorating Keep These Things In Mind
  • First, put together, clean, and inspect the place as well as all of your tools and equipment.
  • Exits should never be blocked.
  • Damaged attachments, wires, lighting sources, and other items should never be used.
  • Overloading electrical outlets or wires is never a good idea.
  • Make certain your holiday lights aren't harmed (frayed, aged, cracked, etc.)
  • For added security, all outdoor equipment should be plugged into GFI (ground fault circuit interrupter) outlets.
  • Always choose non-flammable materials (for Christmas trees, for example).
